Clay tile colours |

Imerys Roof Tiles has
a range of more than 100 colours and continues its research
to create new tints in harmony with different landscapes.Formerly
all clay roofs were red but now technology has allowed a considerable
broadening of the colour spectrum.
Offering a wide variety of natural colour
tones this involves mixtures of mineral oxides (iron, titanium,
manganese) which are applied to the tiles in powder or liquid form
mixed with the clay, before the firing.
It is precisely at the moment of firing
that the clay and the oxides applied to the surface are transformed.
The tile then acquires all its qualities of durability and permanence.
The oxides are completely stabilised and take on a colour unaffected
by UV or other factors such as pollution, variations in temperature,
etc..
One can distinguish two categories of colour: |

Continuous colours
| They are less and less appreciated,
the one exception being slate colours developed more recently
and in full development. Below Alpha
